Saara Hurme is a dancer and performer originally from Jyväskylä, Finland, and who now lives and works in London. Saara has studied dance at the Theater Academy of Uniarts Helsinki as well as at London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. In Finland she has performed as a dancer in pieces by, among others, Joona Halonen as well as in musicals at the Helsinki City Theater. In London she has worked for the Protein dance company as well as for Gingerline, a group specialized in creating immersive dining experiences. Saara has previously collaborated with her father, Juha Hurme, on a number of projects, most recently choreographing his play Lemmikäinen, which was presented at Finland’s National Theater in 2018.

Juha Hurme is a writer and theater director. During his career he has directed around 200 works for various city theaters, the Finnish National Theater, and Kom-teatteri, among others. Hurme has published five novels, the most recent of which (Niemi, 2017) was awarded the Finlandia prize for literature. His previous novel, Nyljetyt ajatukset (2014), received the Jarkko Laine prize. Together with musician Tuomari Nurmio, Hurme has also founded KalevalaFest, a group working to revitalize Finnish folklore.
